About Whippletree Ceilidh Band

Whatever event you’re planning, a Ceilidh is a great way to get people up and dancing. Whether it’s a Wedding, a Community fundraiser or granny’s 90th birthday, Whippletree will be able to work out something special for your event.

What is a ceilidh? Pronounced Kay-lee it is a gaelic word meaning party or gathering, usually with folk music, dancing and story telling, very similar to an American barn dance. Now they are more often associated with parties, celebrations and having a great time with friends and families.

Our tunes, songs and dances are guaranteed to get your feet tapping and you’ll be encouraged to get involved in the dances with our very own caller who’ll guide you through them. Above all, we have fun and make sure you do too.

We are based in West Cornwall. Scarily we have over 100 years experience of playing music between us. We love playing our own upbeat Celtic folk music that takes its inspiration from all the different parts of the UK. We can also teach you a spot of Maypole and Morris Dancing if you fancy something a bit different.
